Holding Hope

Holding Hope

I hold the hope
That when you’re grown
You’ll know a world
That will be a
Little bit kinder

I hold the hope
That when you’re grown
Whatever you are
You will have your
Chance to shine

I hold the hope
That when you’re grown
You will not have to
Fear persecution
In any form

And I hold the hope
That before you’re grown
I will have done
Everything in my power
To make these hopes reality

4/27/11
Form: free

I don't yet have children, but this was written, not only for them (non-existent as they are currently), but for my nieces and nephews (blood, marriage, and adoptive). This is for my cousins and their kids too.

You all may see me start coming out of my little cave more, and trying to get information out about various social and political issues that are plaguing the world. We all have a part to play in making the world a better place. Education of ourselves and of our friends and family are key to that change. The exchange and debate of ideas and ideals are also key to that change. So, whether  you are right wing, left wing, or no wing, remember this: we all want a better future for the children in our lives.

You hit the nail on the head, Becca. These are the hopes and dreams I, as you mother, always had for you! Thank you for the validation of my work as a mother.
